Q: Why does Reddit spoiler text fail or leak on mobile and Old Reddit?

Reddit's markdown parser requires that there are NO spaces immediately following the opening >! or preceding the closing ! ! spoiler ! !spoiler!<' with zero spaces.

Question 1

How do you blur text in Discord?

Accepted Answer

To blur text in Discord, wrap your text with two vertical bars (pipes) on each side: ||your text||. For example, typing 'The killer is ||the detective||' will hide 'the detective' behind a clickable black spoiler box. You can also highlight any text in Discord Desktop or Web and click the eye icon to mark it as a spoiler.

Question 2

What is the shortcut for spoiler text in Discord?

Accepted Answer

On Discord Desktop (Windows/Mac), highlight the text you want to conceal and use the keyboard shortcut or click the floating 'Eye' icon. Alternatively, type || before and after your message on any device.

Question 3

How do you blur text in Discord on mobile (iPhone & Android)?

Accepted Answer

On Discord iOS and Android, type double vertical bars || on both sides of the word or sentence, like ||spoiler text||. On Android and iOS, you can also long-press the text, tap 'Select All' or select the desired words, tap the three dots in the context menu, and select 'Mark as spoiler'.

Question 4

How do I blur or mark an image as a spoiler in Discord?

Accepted Answer

Before sending an image on Discord Desktop, click the eye icon labeled 'Mark as spoiler' in the attachment preview. On mobile, tap the image before sending and check 'Mark as spoiler'. Alternatively, rename your image file so it starts with 'SPOILER_' (e.g., SPOILER_photo.png) and Discord will automatically blur it.

Question 5

Is blurring text in screenshots secure for sensitive data?

Accepted Answer

Traditional light blurring or pixelation can sometimes be reverse-engineered by modern AI de-blurring models (like Depix). For critical security tokens, passwords, credit card numbers, and legal PII, the safest method is 'Solid Black Redaction' (blacking out the pixels completely). Our client-side redactor supports both irreversible blackouts and high-radius privacy blurs.

Question 6

Does Bluro upload my screenshots or text to any server?

Accepted Answer

No. Bluro is 100% client-side. All text transformations and image redactions run entirely inside your browser's local memory using the HTML5 Canvas API. Zero images, logs, or text strings are ever sent to our servers or third-party APIs.

Question 7

Why shouldn't I use the iPhone Markup highlighter to redact text?

Accepted Answer

The default highlighter pen in iOS Markup is semi-transparent even after several strokes. Anyone can save your image, increase the exposure and contrast in photo editing tools, and read the text underneath. Bluro replaces pixel data on a Canvas, guaranteeing true redaction.

Question 8

What is the spoiler syntax for Reddit and Telegram?

Accepted Answer

On Reddit, spoiler syntax is >!spoiler text!< (with no spaces between the exclamation mark and the letters). On Telegram, you can use double vertical bars ||spoiler text|| or select text and choose 'Spoiler' from the formatting popover.

Question 9

Why does Reddit spoiler text fail or leak on mobile and Old Reddit?

Accepted Answer

Reddit's markdown parser requires that there are NO spaces immediately following the opening >! or preceding the closing !<. If you write '>! spoiler !<', it may appear censored on modern desktop web browsers, but on the official Reddit mobile apps and old.reddit.com, the text will completely leak in plain sight. Always use '>!spoiler!<' with zero spaces.
